Lot 923		Collection of Skylab Pieces Including Sample of Fabric Parasol, Recovered Skylab 1 Fragment, SMEAT. Collection of Skylab ephemera including two sample pieces, one 4 x 3½" the other fingernail sized on laminate card, of the material used to fabricate the "parasol" or heat shield to protect Skylab from the Sun, a color photo of the fabric and a letter from Johnson Space Center confirming the authenticity complete with a Skylab commemorative medal made of flown material from the mission. From Skylab 1, encased in lucite is a 1 x 2", is a fragment from a piece of Skylab that crashed in Australia in 1979 with photo and information also encased in the display. On two COas handwriting and sample of mechanical pencil lead flown on Skylab. Finally a signed photo by the three men who participated in The Skylab Medical Experiment Altitude Test, or SMEAT, which was a 56-day simulation of an American Skylab space mission from July 26�September 19, 1972 at NASA's Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, Texas. The astronauts in the test were Bob Crippen, Karol Bobko, and William Thornton, who simulated space experiments, housekeeping and leisure activities in a hypobaric chamber. Lot 924		Two Articulated Plastic Models Used for Development of Habitability Studies, Skylab. Two plastic male figures with 8 points of articulation used to study and develop the habitability of the crew module for Skylab. Each are 7¼" tall, crudely painted, but actually have different faces. These were evidently used to determine "touch and reach" distances. Certainly exhibit evidence of use, one moreso than the other. Lot 925		Flight Director's (1972-73) Two Notebooks of Personal Notations, Calculations, Outlines & Skylab Flight Plans. Spiral-bound notebook full of Flight Director's handwritten notes, timelines, outlines, concerns, schedules all interspersed with stapled in memos. A compilation of a great deal of information over August and September of 1972, the early months leading up to the 5/14/73 launch of Skylab. Great insight into the responsibilities spanning 60 days of a director written in his hand. The second work book is a more traditional manual of compiled memos, flight plans, charts and graphs nevertheless with extensive handwritten notes by the flight director in 1973. Skylab Experiment Systems Handbook original and revisions, hardback publication of Biomedical Results from Skylab, and small collection of about 18 of Skylab related NASA photos. Lot 927		Skylab SL-3 Experiment Operations Handbook & Final Skylab Flight Plan and Crew Procedures. Two original workbooks. The first a massive Skylab Experiment Operation Handbook Volume 1 (removed from three ring binder and secured with rubber bands and sleeve) that is a comprehensive outline of studies, procedures, experiments, equipment use complete with photos and illustration of equipment. This Skylab operations handbook is a compilation of instructions and use of equipment that will reward anyone with an interest in space missions and the intended pursuit of science and research that was Skylab. At least 300 pages all in excellent condition dated November 19,1971 with revisions March 17,1972. The second manual is the final revision Skylab SL-3 Flight Plan for launch date July 28,1973 complete with system hardware operations rules for scheduling experiments, detailed timelines including angle history and sunlight times and overall functional objectives.
